I made it out to the Port Austin Farmers Market over the weekend. I had heard that it is in it's second year and already it is the biggest farmers market in thumb. It was a cool sunny late morning when I arrived and the market was bussleing with activity.

With over one hundred vendors offeringplenty of fresh local produce, plus fish, meat, fresh flowers, garden perennials, antiques, and crafts there is certanly plenty that the Port Austin Farmers Market has to offer. Parking was abundant near the farmers market, and as I walked from my car to
the market I watched as a horse drawn carriage shuttled people to the farmers market. There was music playing over a sound system and everyone was very friendly making a perfect atmosphere.

I strolled through the market looking at the variety of vendors from around the thumb and beyond. Finally settling on some beautiful produce including a monster watermelon, green beans, potatoes, onions, and apples, I had a fun time at the market.

The Port Austin Farmers Market runs every Saturday in downtown Port Austin from 9am to 1pm, from May 19th through October 27th. For in season locally grown vegetables this is the market to be at, and there is always something new so I will have to make another trip to the market before the seasons end.
